Co-President’s Message
Can you believe we are four weeks and counting until the final days of the school year? Seems like yesterday we were sharpening our pencils and packing away the swim suits! While we are all excited for summer break, we can’t help but look back at the fabulous year the PTA experienced here at Ocee Elementary! It all started with our Check Writing Membership Campaign. Nothing would be possible without all of our members especially those families that joined at the Otter Level! Then, our countless volunteers put your donated money to good use with PTA programs that enrich your child’s experience at Ocee. We had 620 students racing around the Accelerated Reader track toward improved reading, we had 115 4th and 5th grade students battle their book knowledge in Battle of the Books and students spent 82 hours in Science Zone labs nurturing their inner scientist. The school was wrapped in chains during Red Ribbon Week and during Exceptional Children’s Week we learned that everyone has a gift. We had tons of kids walking and rolling to school while showing off their foot beads for this accomplishment. We also showed the staff at Ocee just how much we appreciate them during the various staff lunches and staff appreciation month. It has truly been a very busy, successful year; but wait there’s more! Our PTA Executive Board is hard at work planning for next year! We are tweaking the Check Writing Membership Campaign to provide our members with even more perks! We are working with a graphic artist to reveal a new and improved Oscar Otter, shh, I hear he now has a body to match that cute face! Student Agendas are being designed, Yearbooks created and all of our programs are being enhanced! While we say goodbye to the 2011-2012 school year we also say bring on 2012-2013! To help us with this endeavor, please join us in welcoming our new PTA Executive Board for the 2012-2013 school year.
