Science Zone is a hands-on science lab program for all Ocee students. The labs are tied to Georgia Performance Standards (GPS) and are designed to enhance each grade’s science curriculum, making the material more relatable to students by offering hands-on activities not available in the regular classroom.
During each lab, students conduct experiments using the scientific method and are introduced to proper scientific practices. A lab leader introduces the subject matter, provides background information and gives instructions on how to conduct the lab. Parent volunteers from each class help the students to carry out the experiments.
Kindergarten and 1st graders attend one lab, 2nd graders attend two, and 3rd, 4th and 5th graders each attend three labs during the school year. All labs are approximately 50 minutes long and take place during school hours.

Science Zone continues to make our Ocee Otters great scientists! Science Zone provides hands-on labs that enhance the current science curriculum for each grade. We need parent volunteers to make this program a success! No previous science experience is needed.
